Feb. 27, 2025—CFISD’s winners in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) School Art Program were announced after going through multiple rounds of judging.
A total of 17 winners were selected from the Elementary, Middle School and High School divisions and will be displayed in the Hayloft Gallery at NRG Center during the HLSR, March 4-23.
Bridgeland High School junior Bolin Xiang’s artwork “Oh! My Hat!” earned Best of Show in the High School division of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Program. Her artwork was also selected for the rodeo art auction.
CFISD art teachers used two rounds of judging to determine the top 61 pieces that advanced to the official HLSR School Art Program contest at NRG Stadium. The initial round of judging also helped select pieces that were displayed at the CFISD Rodeo Art Exhibit, held Jan. 16 at the CFISD Visual and Performing Arts Center.
The 2025 contest marks a historic year for CFISD as a record six art pieces were selected to advance to the rodeo art auction. The 2025 contest also marks the second year students with special needs were given the opportunity to submit artwork. Ten art pieces created by CFISD LIFE Skills students were selected to be judged in the official HLSR School Art Program contest.
Cypress Ranch High School senior Bitiah Binoj’s artwork “Matching Jewelry,” won a gold medal in the High School division of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Program. Her artwork was also selected for the rodeo art auction.
The following CFISD students earned Rodeo Art awards:
In the High School Division:

- Cypress Ridge High School senior Lenore Ross won a gold medal for her artwork titled “Saddlewood Glow.” Ross’ piece was also selected for the rodeo art auction.
- Cypress Creek High School senior Levi Metcalf won a gold medal for his artwork titled “Modern Pueblo.”
- Cypress Park High School sophomore Lois Yeboah won a gold medal for her artwork titled “Humor Heel.”
- Cypress Park senior Anthony Casarez won a gold medal for his artwork titled “Generational.”
- Cypress Ranch sophomore Ericka Mendoza won a special merit award for her artwork titled “El Gallo Rey.”
- Cypress Ranch sophomore Jordyn Adams won a special merit award for her artwork titled “Through the Cowboy’s Eyes.” Adams’ piece was also selected for the rodeo art auction.
- Cypress Ranch senior Elena Trevino won a special merit award for her artwork titled “Hey Ma Look What I Found.”
- Cy-Fair High School senior Ravine Cohen won a special merit award for her artwork titled “Mist on the Aspin Trail.”
- Langham Creek High School senior Katelinn Barnes won a special merit award for her artwork titled “A Moment’s Rest.”

- Smith Middle School eighth grade student Minh Hoang won a gold medal for her artwork titled “Somewhere in the South.”

- Moore Elementary School third grade student Joshlynn Bingham won Best of Show for her artwork titled “You Had Me at BAAAH.”
- Wells Elementary School fourth grade student Shirley Liu won a gold medal for her artwork titled “Messy Horse.”
