CFISD marching bands participated in the area contest, alongside bands from Alief ISD, Houston ISD, Katy ISD, Spring Branch ISD and Waller ISD. There were no final performances due to weather delays throughout the day.
“We are proud of all of our CFISD bands that performed last Saturday at the UIL Area I Marching Band Contest,” said John Morrison, director of fine arts. “Weather conditions during much of the day proved to be a challenge for several schools and our students handled those challenges head on and were able to deliver some really fantastic performances for the crowd.”
The state competition for Class 6A is scheduled for Nov. 11-12 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The preliminary round will be Nov. 11, with Cypress Woods scheduled to perform at 9 a.m., Bridgeland slated for 1:30 p.m. and Cy-Fair scheduled to perform at 4 p.m.
The top 14 performing marching bands will return Oct. 12 for the state finals.
