Bridgeland, Cy Ranch win 16-6A title; 5 volleyball teams enter playoffs

Nov. 4, 2024—The District 16-6A and District 17-6A volleyball seasons ended on Oct. 29 with five CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL Class 6A playoffs.  

Bridgeland and Cypress Ranch high schools tied for the District 16-6A championship, with both teams posting a 13-1 district record. The Bears and Mustangs played a seeding match on Nov. 1 where Cypress Ranch defeated Bridgeland in three sets to earn District 16-6A’s first seed. Bridgeland enters the postseason as the district’s second seed.

Also advancing from District 16-6A is Cypress Woods High School. The Wildcats finished the season with a 10-4 record, entering the playoffs as the third seed.

In District 17-6A, Cy-Fair and Jersey Village high schools are advancing to the postseason. Cy-Fair finished with a 12-2 record, claiming the second seed, while Jersey Village posted an 8-6 record, claiming the fourth seed.

Cypress Woods High School junior Addison Gibson helped lead the Wildcats to a 10-4 record in District 16-6A, earning the third playoff seed. Cypress Woods will face Tomball at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Berry Center.

Cypress Ranch, Bridgeland and Cypress Woods will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cypress Ranch will face Klein Oak at 5 p.m. on Nov. 4 at Waller Gymnasium (31213 Waller Spring Creek Road)
  • Bridgeland will play Tomball Memorial at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Waller Gymnasium
  • Cypress Woods will meet Tomball at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road)

Cy-Fair and Jersey Village will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cy-Fair will face Houston Lamar at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Cy-Fair High School (22602 Northwest Fwy.)
  • Jersey Village will meet Houston Bellaire at 6 p.m. on Nov. 4 at Bellaire High School (5100 Maple Street)

Tickets for Cypress Ranch, Bridgeland and Cypress Woods are $5 each for adults and students and are sold online. Tickets for Cy-Fair and Jersey Village are $5 each for adults and students and are sold online.

The Jersey Village High School volleyball team posted an 8-6 record in District 17-6A to claim the district’s fourth playoff seed. The Falcons will face Houston Bellaire at 6 p.m. on Nov. 4 at Bellaire High School.
