Cy-Fair High School senior Sofia Luper won two individual Region V-6A titles at the Region V-6A Championships, held Feb. 6-8 at the CFISD Natatorium. Luper won the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.47) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.03). Luper was also named the Region V-6A Girls’ Co-Swimmer of the Meet. She will also compete in the 200-yard individual medley at the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships, to be held Feb. 21-22 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Feb. 13, 2025—Twelve CFISD athletes in 12 total events qualified for the UIL Swimming and Diving Championships following the Region V-6A Championships, held Feb. 6-8 at the CFISD Natatorium. CFISD athletes claimed four regional titles overall.
The first- and second-place finishers in each region and next eight swimmers with the best regional finish times in the state advance to the UIL Swimming and Diving Championships, to be held Feb. 21-22 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin. In diving, the top three finishers in each of the eight regions advance to state.
Bridgeland High School sophomore Jackson Hartzler won the Region V-6A 200-yard individual medley (1:48.18) and will also compete in the 100-yard breaststroke at the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships, to be held Feb. 21-22 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

The Cy-Fair girls finished the meet with 140 points to finish eighth overall, while the Cypress Ranch High School girls finished 10th overall with 128 points.
The Cypress Woods High School boys scored 86 points to finish 12th overall, making the Wildcats the highest-placing CFISD boys’ team.
Cypress Woods High School sophomore Taevin Kim won the Region V-6A 100-yard backstroke (50.40) and will compete in the at the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships, to be held Feb. 21-22 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
