District 17-6A softball players earn 2026 all-district honors
Cy-Fair High School senior pitcher Cori Figgs won District 17-6A Defensive MVP after pitching 80 of Cy-Fair’s 85 district innings, finishing with a 1.84 ERA and 61 strikeouts.
June 1, 2026—District 17-6A softball coaches recently released the 2026 17-6A All-District Softball Team after Cy-Fair advanced to the Region III-6A Final.
Cypress Ridge High School senior center fielder Ariel Arambula, a Texas Tech commit, won District MVP after hitting .621 and leading the Rams to their first-ever playoff appearance and playoff victory.
“This kid has been the biggest piece of this program. She does everything that is asked of her,” Cypress Ridge Head Coach Paige Hasselbring said. “She hits for power. [She] didn't get pitched to a lot, but when she did, she did damage.”
Cypress Ridge High School senior center fielder Ariel Arambula earned District MVP honors after leading Cypress Ridge to its first playoff appearance in school history.
Her teammate, freshman pitcher Kayla Ortega, was the district’s Newcomer of the Year after recording 99 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched.
Cy-Fair pitcher Cori Figgs won the district’s Defensive MVP award after throwing 80 innings with a 1.837 ERA and 61 strikeouts.
Cypress Ridge High School freshman pitcher Kayla Ortega brought home the district’s Newcomer of the Year award after finishing with a 2.14 ERA in 68 innings pitched.
In the dugout, Hasselbring earned the district’s Coach of the Year award after the Rams’ historic playoff run.
In all, 43 CFISD players were recognized on the all-district team or received an honorable mention. The full list of honorees is below.
